Melbourne's Two Centre tour a hit!

Our Australian holidays are normally located in one spot for the two weeks, but this time we decided to move to two locations, so that we could experience Melbourne's Sandbelt and Peninsula courses without extended journey times. It certainly worked, and everybody noticed the change in pace from the central city down to Sorrento for the second week. We spent the first week playing four of the Sandbelt courses, with Yarra Yarra and the Commonwealth courses being the stand outs. Bunkers were an inevitable topic of conversation after each round - a total of 204 bunkers are at Yarra Yarra! Being based in the city centre, we were very near the South Bank with its' many restaurants and also within the free tram zone, which made for easy access to everywhere. Shifting down to Sorrento, we were able to explore the quaint town that it is, as well as taking the ferry across to Queensferry on the other side of Philips Bay. The golf was more links style down here, with all four courses (Moonah Links, The Dunes, Portsea & Cape Schanck) being a challenge. Melbourne Cup day is a public holiday in Victoria and is a big event, so we were able to enjoy the build up to the Cup both in the city and in the Peninsula. We even found time to go to the cinema as a group to watch the film 'Tommy's Honour' - very appropriate since it is about golf in Scotland in the 1800's! All in all, two weeks of golf was enjoyed by all. Dates for next year are up on the website and we are just waiting for the 2018 accommodation rates before finalising next year's prices. Details will be up on the website soon. If you would like to experience the Sandbelt and Peninsula courses for yourself, why don't you join us next year?
